REPTON'S US HIGHER EDUCATION PATHWAY

At Repton School, we’re proud to offer our pupils the opportunity to consider a broad range of higher education options, including a pathway for those wishing to explore the prospect of studying at American universities.

To kick off our taught programme focused on US university applications, we welcomed representatives from Penn State University, Trinity University in San Antonio, and Rhodes College, Tennessee. During an insightful two-hour session, members of our Lower Sixth received guidance on writing Common App essays and navigating the entrance requirements for US colleges.

Interest in US universities among Reptonians has grown steadily over the past few years. Many are drawn to the US by lucrative scholarships and a wider, more flexible curricula that allows students to explore various academic disciplines before committing to a specific field. Approximately 10% of each Repton cohort now applies to US institutions, with many Reptonians balancing both US and UK applications.

To support our pupils, Repton runs a comprehensive programme that begins in Lower Sixth or even earlier for those pursuing sports scholarships. Alongside in-House support from our Higher Education team, we collaborate with external consultants for SAT and ACT preparation. Our goal is to make the application process as accessible as possible, helping Reptonians to identify universities that best fit their ambitions.

Over recent years, we have seen success stories that inspire our current pupils. From placements at Ivy League schools like Harvard and Cornell to sports scholarships at universities such as the University of Georgia, Reptonians are exploring opportunities beyond traditional UK institutions. With increasing numbers considering both the East Coast and other regions, Reptonians’ aspirations reflect the diverse and dynamic nature of American higher education.
